Why Contact Lens Cases Matter

Lens cases are the single biggest source of contact-lens-related eye infections in Pakistan. Even with daily cleaning, cases develop microscopic biofilm — a bacterial slime layer that's extremely difficult to remove and continuously contaminates fresh solution. Replace your lens case every 3 months minimum, more often in humid coastal cities or after any eye infection.

Using Lens Kit Properly

1. After morning lens removal, empty the case fully — don't leave old solution.
2. Rub the inside of each chamber with fresh multi-purpose solution for 5-10 seconds.
3. Rinse with fresh solution, not tap water (tap water can contain Acanthamoeba causing corneal infections).
4. Air-dry the case open and upside-down on a clean tissue throughout the day.
5. Fresh solution each night — fill the case with fresh solution before storing lenses, never top up old solution.
6. Replace the case every 3 months regardless of how clean it looks.

Storage Tips

• Store away from bathrooms — bathroom humidity and aerosolized bacteria from toilet flushing reach lens cases. Keep in a dry drawer or shelf instead.
• Don't share cases — each lens wearer in your household needs their own dedicated case.
• Travel separately — when travelling, use a travel case for the trip and your home case for daily use rather than one case for both.
